British Campaign Furniture: Elegance Under Canvas, 1740-1914 Brawer, Nicholas A. Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Harry N Abrams Inc 2001 0810957116 / 9780810957114 1st Edition Hardcover Very Good Very Good Book Inscribed by Author(s) This well-written book on British campaign furniture dispels the notion that furniture and accoutrements on the military home front had to be roughly made and primitive in design. The reality was just the opposite. As the British expanded their empire, and more and more Englishmen found themselves in rustic and rural parts of the world, many made sure to travel with an array of appropriately fashionable, functional, and portable furniture. The book is not a catalog per se, but more of a heavily illustrated history of the various forms, with useful catalog information included. The last chapter is a very useful complete Directory of British Campaign Furniture Makers, Outfitters, and Patentees.
