As we’ve said, several experts have assisted us with these lists. Each had their own thoughts as to which books to recommend, but two were on every list. All agree that these books are the essential tools for training the eye to discern differences in quality.

Fine Points of American Furniture by Albert Sack (This book is known as “Good, Better and Best”)
New Fine Points of American Furniture, by Albert Sack. This book adds two additional grades to the first book and it has color plates

Early American Furniture: How to Recognize, Evaluate, Buy and Care for the Most Beautiful Pieces by John Kirk
